Since 2013, the OEIL and the Customary Environmental Consultative Council have been carrying out participatory monitoring of coral reefs in the great south of Caledonia involving the populations of surrounding tribes. The Acropora project is part of a larger program: the New Caledonian Coral Reef Observation Network (RORC). The alliance of scientists and local populations makes the link between technology and tradition with a common goal: the preservation of these precious ecosystems.
