Pacific Support for Global Plastics Treaty

Despite contributing just 1.3% of plastic debris in the world’s oceans, the Pacific islands suffer disproportionately from its impacts. Pacific island leaders have joined the growing cohort of countries and regions calling for a new global treaty to combat and ultimately prevent plastic pollution. They have taken the initiative by creating a united front - working together, as one voice, for a treaty that is both responsive to and consistent with the needs and priorities of the Pacific.
