Weevils of the Cook Islands
Recent research has increased the number of weevils known from the Cook Islands from 34 to 103.
36 species cannot be named at present. Many are probably undescribed endemic species, while others may be widespread but poorly-known. 10 species are known only from single specimens.
The three described endemic weevil species were described over a span of 82 years. At this rate, it will take 984 years for the remainder to be described.
10 species are adventive to the islands. The impact of these invasive species in most cases is unknown.
